The following tips are steps you can take to decrease your risk from common scams and criminal activity, such as spoofing, identity theft, romance scams, business fraud, hackers, investment scams, and many more.  We work with companies and individuals around the world to identify and prevent fraud.

1. Don’t be fooled by a fraud or imitation

Never communicate with anyone claiming to be from Wymoo International unless they are using an official @wymoo.com email address, and you have contacted us first via our website.  We will NEVER make any unsolicited contact with you of any kind.  Always visit our official website first, www.Wymoo.com, and click on Free Quote or Contact Us for assistance.  We will promptly respond to your needs.

Wymoo will never visit you at your home to discuss your case or investigation.

2. Say no to spoofing and phishing attempts

If you think you may be communicating with a criminal or scammer, change your email account password immediately.  To be even more safe, consider changing your email address if you feel your email account or computer may have been hacked.  If you think you may be communicating with a spoof claiming to be from Wymoo, submit a Contact Us or call us on the number on our website, Wymoo.com.

A spoof or phishing email is an email that looks like it comes from a well-known company like ours, and it’s objective is to get you to respond or click on the links in the email.  Don’t be fooled.  Websites can also be “spoofs”, so be sure you’re on our official site, and check the URL to be sure.

3. Wymoo® only accepts safe payment methods

If you’re communicating with someone claiming to be from Wymoo International, and they insist on cash, Western Union or MoneyGram payment, or any other form of payment off our website, contact us immediately via our Contact us page.  Wymoo accepts payment via secure methods directly via our website, and clients have the option of paying with a debit card, credit card, PayPal or bank transfer.

Wymoo International will NEVER request payment be sent outside the United States.

We will never ask for your password, credit card or bank account information via email.

Payments should only be made via our secure website, on our Checkout page.

4. Protect your finances and cash

Never send money to any person overseas for any reason, unless you have met the individual in person and you are 100% sure the person is who he or she claims to be.  Be very skeptical of anyone claiming to be in an emergency while traveling abroad, or working overseas, and always have the individual properly verified with a professional background check service.  Never reveal your personal or financial data, such as your date of birth, credit card or bank account information, passport or ID number, and so on.

Remember when you wire money or send money via Western Union, that transfer is nearly impossible to reverse.  Payments made via your credit card have a higher level of protection against fraud.

Internet criminals are even accessing the U.S. government databases and websites these days, so be aware that no website on the internet is 100% protected from fraud.  Savvy criminals can and sometimes do get access to different companies and websites, so protect yourself and stay cautious.  Share less online.  Some dating and social networking sites are safer than others, but none are 100% safe.

6. Protect your privacy and lower your risk

Don’t share your personal information, such as your full name, date of birth, phone number, email and address, vacation plans, etc on the internet or via the internet with people or companies you don’t know.  Doing so is a bad idea and a fast way to become a victim of identity theft or other, more serious crime.  The smaller your online footprint, the safer you and your family members are – both online and offline.

7. Remember that profiles are easy to fake

Recent lawsuits with dating sites clearly show there is a problem with fake online dating profiles.  Social media is also estimated to have huge numbers of fake profiles and accounts.  How do you know who’s real?  You don’t.  In most cases, it takes the training and resources of a trained investigator to verify.

8. If it sounds too good to be true, stop and think

Don’t be pressured into making any fast investment, decision, shipment or payment.  If it has to be done now and in a hurry, chances are it’s not a good idea.  Watch out for red flags and listen to your gut instinct.  If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.  If you’re not sure, get a background check or due diligence investigation to verify the subject and situation, so you can know the facts first.
